XOS Digital launched its instant replay system for collegiate hockey in 2005. Since that time, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, Western Collegiate Hockey Association, Hockey East and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference have all adopted its use. XOS is the largest provider of instant replay solutions in the collegiate hockey space.
XOS ReplayTM for hockey is based on proprietary video encoding and playback hardware. As such, it does not require a computer for operation. The system uses a touchscreen controller as its primary interface. In addition, it leverages two replay monitors that allow officials to review from the penalty box and the replay booth or operators' station.
Features Include:
- Three video feeds; two from cameras over the goal and one from the program feed
- Easy play sequence creation
- Automatic game-clock video insertion into the three video streams to ensure constant visibility on replay screen
- Audio recording to integrate scoreboard buzzer or horn sounds into the video stream, enabling officials to compare plays under review in conjunction with the game clock and buzzers that signal the end of a period
